As Chief Financial Officer, you will be working with a regional organization of 80+ people and will be based out of their office in Penang, Malaysia. You will be expected to be performing this role on a full-time basis.  The role is a key member of the EasyParcel executive team and reports to the CEO.


As a start up, you can expect your days to be pretty varied. Multitasking is normal, and sometimes, your skills or natural talents will be leveraged to support other business priorities. That said, the bulk of your working hours should involve you having to:

  • Manage mergers & acquisitions (M&A)
  • Oversee and maintain daily transactions and control of all accounting systems to ensure accurate recording and processing of financial and accounting data in compliance with international procedures, statutory rules and accounting standards
  • Create and establish SOPs for finance, purchasing, accounting, employee expenses, capex planning and implementation
  • Formulate consistent accounting rules and procedures and implement across the business
  • Lead the budgeting process and work closely with the respective business units director
  • Establish monthly management reporting and templates for each entity at consolidated level to help business making decisions
  • Lead financial analysis to support decisions and business development

  • Maturity – provide a good balance of risk taking and judgment; is aggressive and confident; able to operate independently of a large support team
  • Demonstrable background of thriving in a “lean startup” environment of constant experimentation and learning
  • Strong analytical skills, understands complex issues, quickly absorbs information, excels in conceptual and creative problem solving
  • Interpersonal/Communication Skills – an innate ability to channel different points of view; Able to establish and maintain excellent relationships and credibility quickly; Create team atmosphere with internal staff while achieving key objectives; Excellent consulting skills as well as technical writing and public speaking
  • Comes highly recommended by peers, external vendors / partners, bosses and/or teams managed by you
  • High integrity, credibility, and character is a must, especially in an industry that thrives on a lack of transparency


  • Have the “IPO” mentality
  • Finance and accounting degree, ACCA, CPA, CA or AK is an advantage
  • Initial audit background is a plus
  • Ability to work independently and play a hands-on role in a dynamic, challenging and fast-paced environment
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal and relationship building skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills coupled with excellent presentation skills
  • Highly-motivated and driven with good integrity and a strong sense of accountability and focus on delivering results
